7 day Itinerary (noon to noon) Grenada - Grenada

MapDay 1  Your charter starts at midday. After a comprehensive chart and yacht briefing depart True Blue Bay and sail around to St George’s passing Grand Anse beach. Anchor off or enjoy the luxury of a berth at Port Louis Marina and dinner at the restaurant.

Day 2  An exhilarating days sail to Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou. Anchor amongst the local fishing boats and enjoy a stroll and drink ashore at one of the many rum shops, or try the floating bar in the middle of the bay! Dine on board or ashore at one of the small restaurants on the water’s edge.

Day 3  Breakfast and swim at Sandy Island, a stunning stretch of sand with no more than half a dozen palm trees. Watch the pelicans performing aerobatics around your boat as you eat. After breakfast and a snorkel, sail over to Union Island to briefly complete customs formalities and then continue north for a short distance to Mayreau. Drop anchor at Saltwhistle Bay, definitely one of the all time most beautiful anchorages – a perfect horseshoe shaped palm-fringed beach. You could eat ashore tonight at the resort (dining Flintstones style on rock tables with little thatch roofs).

Cruising past MayreauDay 4  Take an early morning stroll to the top of Mayreau and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding islands. Afterwards it's an hour's sail to the Tobago Cays. Simply spectacular! Just off the little island of Baradel is an area cordoned off for turtles to feed, and it’s an incredible experience to get close and swim with these remarkable animals. Dine aboard under the stars after spending the day snorkeling and exploring the beaches of the cays.

Day 5  After a leisurely breakfast, sail back to Union and head for Chatham Bay on the west side of the island, a beautiful deserted bay surrounded by hills.  You could organize a beach barbeque with a local fisherman cooking freshly caught lobster – perfect Caribbean dining.

Day 6  Cruise over to Mopion, a perfect circle of sand in turquoise water with a coconut thatch for shelter. After a snorkel and lunch sail the very short distance to Petit St Vincent, an exclusive private island resort with an excellent restaurant.

Day 7 Sail back to Grenada; make a stop at Isle de Ronde for lunch and a swim on the way. Head for Prickly Bay or Clarkes Court Bay on the south coast of Grenada.  Enjoy a last night dinner on board or book into one of the many local restaurants.

Day 8 Enjoy a leisurely sail back around to True Blue Bay for a noon finish.  The Horizon staff will be ready to assist you whether you are departing the island or continuing your stay in one of the islands hotels or villas.

10 day itinerary (noon to noon) Grenada – Grenada

Day 1  Yacht charter starts at noon. Following the comprehensive yacht and chart briefing with Horizon Yacht Charters depart from True Blue Bay. Sail to St. George's for the first stop, anchor off Ross Point for the night. If you are sailing with a crew you will depart earlier and sail directly to Carriacou on this day.

Day 2  Set off on an exhilarating day sail to Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou.  Anchor amongst the local fishing boats and enjoy a stroll and drinks ashore at one of the local rum shops, or simply lounge in the cockpit and watch the sun set behind you.

Anchored at Sandy Island, CarriacouDay 3  Breakfast and swim at Sandy Island while you watch the pelicans performing aerobatics around your boat. After snorkeling the reef, clear out in Hillsborough before sailing over to Clifton Harbour, Union to clear in and pick up fresh pineapple and homemade bread before taking a short sail to palm lined Salt Whistle Bay, Mayreau.

Day 4  Take an early morning stroll to the top of Mayreau and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding islands. Afterwards it's an hour's sail to the Tobago Cays. Simply spectacular! Dine aboard under the stars after spending the day snorkeling and exploring the beaches of the cays.

Day 5  Spend the day snorkeling and exploring the Cays – since the area is protected the wealth of sea life is extraordinary. Just off the little island of Baradel is an area cordoned off for turtles to feed, and it’s an incredible experience to get close and swim with these remarkable animals. Explore the islands ashore and climb to their summits for the stunning views and watch the almost tame iguanas and land tortoises lumbering around.

Britannia Bay, MustiqueDay 6  A four hour sail brings you to Admiralty Bay, Bequia, capital of the laid back Caribbean. Soak up the friendly, bustling atmosphere ashore, with an excellent meal at one of the many restaurants. Bequia's famous for its wooden boat builders; take home a replica to remind you of your trip.

Day 7  Stock up on fresh provisions and then it’s a short cruise to chic Mustique, with a perfect swim stop at Petit Nevis on the way. Enjoy lunch at Basil's Bar, or a sunset dinner at the Firefly while you dream of your holiday home on this perfect tropical island.

Day 8  Set off south again, this time heading for the west side of Union Island. Chatham Bay is your destination, a beautiful deserted bay surrounded by hills. Hike up for magnificent views or enjoy snorkeling along the north edge of the bay. A beach barbeque with a local chef can provide the entertainment on an otherwise quiet night.

Day 9  Back to Clifton Harbour to check out of St. Vincent, then a sail over to Petit St Vincent for the night, stopping at Mopion on the way, a flawless piece of sand in turquoise water topped with a small coconut thatch shelter for shade. Caribbean perfection! Spoil yourself for dinner if you want at PSV resort.

Day 10  Tyrell bay – St George’s; an exhilarating downwind sail to St George’s passing the isolated islands of Kick ‘em Jenny and Isle De Ronde. On arrival at St George’s anchor off Ross Point or for luxury book a slip at the new Port Louis Marina. Dine at the marina’s own restaurant or for some very authentic local cuisine go to BB’s Crab Back on the Carenage.

Day 11  A final morning’s sail around to True Blue where the Horizon staff will assist you to the dock for a noon finish. True Blue Resort is just a few minutes ride from the airport and is a great place to base yourselves if you plan to be on island and explore for a few more days. Grenada is a spectacular island that offers excellent diving, island tours to old plantations, rain forest hikes and stunning beaches.

Sandy IslandDay 3  Breakfast and swim at Sandy Island while you watch the pelicans performing aerobatics around your boat. After snorkeling the reef, clear out in Hillsborough before sailing over to Clifton Harbour, Union to clear in and pick up fresh pineapple and homemade bread before taking a short sail to palm lined Salt Whistle Bay, Mayreau.

Day 4  Take an early morning stroll to the top of Mayreau and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding islands. Afterwards it's an hour's sail to the Tobago Cays. Simply spectacular! Anchor or pick up one of the moorings inside the Cays with the huge horseshoe reef in front of you to protect from the ocean swell. There are no restaurants or bars in the Cays – light up the BBQ and dine under the stars.

Day 5 Spend the day snorkeling and exploring the Cays – since the area is protected the wealth of sea life is extraordinary. Just off the little island of Baradel is an area cordoned off for turtles to feed, and it’s an incredible experience to get close and swim with these remarkable animals. Explore the islands ashore and climb to their summits for the stunning views and watch the almost tame iguanas and land tortoises lumbering around.

Day 6  A four hour sail brings you to Admiralty Bay, Bequia, capital of the laid back Caribbean. Bequia has a unique, magical charm which is hard to find anywhere else in the Caribbean. The island combines an enduring seafaring heritage with a wonderful laid back atmosphere. Pick up a mooring in Admiralty Bay and clear in with Customs and Immigration. Stock up on provisions and then enjoy cocktails and dinner at one of several waterfront restaurants.

Day 7  Spend the day exploring the island. For divers, Bequia offers some of the best dive sites in the region with locations within easy reach of the anchorage. Shore based activities include a guided tour of the island including a visit to the Turtle Sanctuary. For the more active there are numerous hiking trails around Bequia with superb views from the hill tops.

Day 10 Back to Clifton Harbour to check out of St. Vincent, then a sail over to Petit St Vincent for the night, stopping at Mopion on the way, a flawless piece of sand in turquoise water topped with a small coconut thatch shelter for shade. Caribbean perfection! Spoil yourself for dinner if you want at PSV resort or arrange a water taxi for excellent local food at Palm Beach Restaurant on Petite Martinique.

Grenadines MapDay 11 Top off with water and pick up some supplies at Petite Martinque, then it’s off to Hillsborough on Carriacou to clear in. Move the short distance to Sandy Island and pick up a mooring within this Marine Protected Area. There is some excellent snorkeling here, or just lounge on the perfect beach. Stay overnight here or alternatively move around to Tyrrel Bay and drop anchor for the night.

Day 12 Take a tour of Carriacou – head to Windward village on the NE corner of the island where traditional boat building skills have been passed down the generations and still continue today. Stop at Hospital Hill and take in the views over Hillsborough and north to Union Island. If you’re feeling fit and adventurous set off on a hike – one of the easiest and most scenic trails is from Hillsborough to Tyrrel Bay. Alternatively explore the mangroves in Tyrell Bay by dinghy.

Day 13 Tyrell bay – St George’s; an exhilarating downwind sail to St George’s passing the isolated islands of Kick ‘em Jenny and Isle De Ronde. On arrival at St George’s anchor off Ross Point or for luxury book a slip at the new Port Louis Marina. Dine at the marina’s own restaurant or for some very authentic local cuisine go to BB’s Crab Back on the Carenage.

Day 14 Sail around the south coast of Grenada and explore one of the many sheltered anchorages on the south side of the island. Clarke’s Court Bay is one of the best and easiest to enter. You can spend the day swimming and gunk holing the mangroves that line the bay. There are several local restaurants nearby with fresh fish or lobster on the menu.

Day 15 A short downwind sail takes you to True Blue Bay where the Horizon staff will assist you to the dock for a noon finish. True Blue Resort is just a few minutes ride from the airport and is a great place to base yourselves if you plan to be on island and explore for a few more days.
