April 16 - 21, 2009 – 22nd Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta

Trio ClassicOne of the most renowned Classic Races worldwide, the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta takes place every April, just before Antigua Sailing Week. The day before the official start of the Yacht Regatta is the Boat International Concours d’Elegance, an opportunity for owners and crew to show off the care and attention they give to their yacht, with prizes for both privately and professionally maintained yachts. A spectacle of over 50 classic yachts anchored at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina is a truly magnificent sight.

Classic Yacht RaceThere follows three days of racing from and back to Falmouth Harbour and is easily viewed from land from the many vista points along the coast line.

The whole regatta has the feel of a bygone era, with the inclusion of Heritage Day Festival, where you can catch sailors bedecked in period costume after the last day of racing. This is also the home of a giant tea party which completes the feeling that you have been transported to an English Garden.

April 26 – May 2– , 2009 42nd Stanford Antigua Sailing Week

Over the last two decades, Antigua Sailing Week has developed into one of the biggest events in the World Sailing calendar, as well as one of the most fantastic times to visit Antigua and take advantage of an island wide party. From small beginnings, the regatta has developed into the 3rd and final race of the Caribbean Big Boat Series. A truly party atmosphere and a wonderful regatta to witness!

May 29 - June 1, 2009 – 43rd Antigua & Barbuda Sports Fishing Tournament

The Antigua Barbuda Sport Fishing Association is a lively, vibrant crowd of fisherman who fish for the pure enjoyment of it, and once back on land, love to party.

June 5 – 7, 2009 – Antigua Music Festival

Music aficionados will fall in love as lyrical beauty engulfs Antigua, spreading peace, love and unity to locals and visitors alike.

Romantic Rhythms music festival will allow indulge your sense and offers a unique opportunity to sample the cuisine, culture, heritage and attractions of our love islands of Antigua and Barbuda.

Featuring a slate of performer’s from across the globe, including our very own backyard of the Caribbean and South America and an impressive line up of vocal and instrumental performances, this festival will romance throngs of the ole school and modern day music enthusiasts at candlelit concerts and other intimate settings throughout the destination.

July 25 – August 4, 2009 – Antigua Carnival

The Carnival in Antigua is a fantastic celebration of happiness. For the history of the festival you have to step back in time to 1st August 1834 when slavery was abolished. People immediately celebrated by taking to the streets to celebrate their freedom and express their joy and happiness. Over the years there was a return to this informal celebration until 1957 when the first official Antiguan Carnival was organised. Since then the festival has developed into 10 days of music, dance and revellery, with street marches, jump-ups and formal evening shows – calypso, pan, and Carnival Queen pageants – always around the last week in July the first week in August.

November 1, 2009 Antigua & Barbuda Independence Day

The celebrations consists of a week of celebration, competitions, parades, expos and food fairs – for all Antiguans living both home and abroad and residents of Antigua, as well as visitors. A fantastic week of celebrations for all the family in both Antigua and Barbuda.
